Taming Heavier Group 14 Imine Analogues: Accessing Tin Nitrogen [Sn=N] Double Bonds and their Cycloaddition/Metathesis Chemistry

چکیده

A systematic study to access stable stannaimines is reported, by combining different heteroleptic stannylenes with a range of organic azides. The reactions terphenyl-/hypersilyl-substituted yield the putative tin nitrogen double bond, but directly followed 1,2-silyl migration give SnII systems featuring bulky silylamido ligands. By contrast, transition from two σ donor ligand set mixed σ-donor/π-donor scaffold allows three new which can be handled at room temperature. reactivity profile these Sn=N bonded species crucially dependent on substituent atom. As such, Sn=NMes (Mes=2,4,6-Me3C6H2) system capable activating broad substrates under ambient conditions via 1,2-addition reactions, [2+2] and [4+2] cycloaddition reactions. Most interestingly, very rare examples main group multiple bond metathesis are also found viable.

Taming Tin(IV) Polyazides.

The first charge-neutral Lewis base adducts of tin(IV) tetraazide, [Sn(N3)4(bpy)], [Sn(N3)4(phen)] and [Sn(N3)4(py)2], and the salt bis{bis(triphenylphosphine)iminium} hexa(azido)stannate [(PPN)2Sn(N3)6] (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; py = pyridine; PPN = N(PPh3)2) have been prepared using covalent or ionic azide-transfer reagents and ligand-exchange reactions. The azides w...

Charge saturation and neutral substitutions in halomethanes and their group 14 analogues.

A computational analysis of the charge distribution in halomethanes and their heavy analogues (MH(4-n)X(n): M = C, Si, Ge, Sn, Pb; X = F, Cl, Br, I) as a function of n uncovers a previously unidentified saturation limit for fluorides when M ≠ C. We examine the electron densities obtained at the CCSD, MP2(full), B3PW91, and HF levels of theory for 80 molecules for four different basis sets. A pr...

A computational investigation of halogen bonding with halomethanes and their group 14 analogues

It is known that halogen bonding is supported by so-called sigma holes on halides that interact with bases, but what are the limits of that interaction? How does the interaction depend on the group to which the halogen atom is bonded? To answer these questions, complexes of the form MH3X---Y (where M=C, Si, Ge, Sn, Pb; X= F, Cl, Br, I and Y are Lewis bases) were optimized and their energetics a...

The Disilenes: Chemistry of Silicon-silicon Double Bonds

Three stable disilenes, Mes(R)Si=Si(R)Mes where R = mesityl, tert—butyl and (Me3Si)2N, have been prepared by photolysis of trisilanes and dimerization of the resulting ilylenes. X-ray crystallographic studies show Si=Si distances of "215 pm, about 20 pm shorter than for a Si—Si single bond. The silicon and attached carbon atoms are planar in the tert-butylmesityl compound but anti-pyramidal in ...

Synthesis and properties of stable 2-metallanaphthalenes of heavier group 14 elements.

The first stable neutral stannaaromatic compound, 2-stannanaphthalene , was synthesized by taking advantage of an extremely bulky and efficient steric protection group, 2,4,6-tris[bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]phenyl (Tbt). The molecular structure and aromaticity of were discussed on the basis of X-ray crystallographic analysis, NMR, UV-vis, and Raman spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and theoretic...
